About the partnership
The Pincus Family Foundation (PFF) today announced the expansion of its partnership with Catchafire, a leading capacity building platform, now entering a fifth consecutive year of funding to provide critical operational support to nonprofits serving children and families. Over the course of the four-year partnership, the collaboration has generated more than $1.2 million pro bono services.
While traditional grantmaking focuses on direct program funding, PFF’s investment addresses a critical structural gap by connecting lean nonprofit operations with pro bono expert professionals. Through Catchafire, nonprofit organizations gain fully funded access to specialized talent—including CFOs, marketing strategists, and board governance experts—to strengthen their infrastructure.
"PFF’s posture is rooted in trust and a genuine investment in the success of our nonprofit partners. When we discovered that our nonprofits were time-strapped and under-resourced on the operations side, we didn't just write a bigger check. We offered access to skilled professionals who could solve the problems that standard grants rarely reach."
Danielle Y. Scott, President and CEO of the Pincus Family Foundation
From immediate support to strategic transformation
What began in year one as a resource for immediate needs, such as website updates and grant editing, has evolved into a long-term strategic tool. By years three and four, the cohort expanded significantly, with organizations utilizing the platform for complex, foundational challenges like succession planning, compensation frameworks, and earned revenue strategies.
"The help was real and the impact immediate. Over five years, we have seen a significant qualitative shift. Organizations are no longer just using the platform for one-time fixes; they are relying on it as a permanent resource to build organizational resilience. This is what 'capacity that lasts' actually looks like when it works."
Alexa Rivadeneria, Chief Partnerships Officer at Catchafire
The renewal into a fifth year represents PFF’s highest investment level in the program’s history, solidifying the capacity-building platform as a core piece of infrastructure for its nonprofit community rather than a temporary pilot program.
