Advancing community health with Obici Healthcare Foundation

Over four years, volunteers on Catchafire have dedicated 2,400 hours to support 40 health nonprofits long-term. Together, we're advancing community impact and health outcomes.

Commitment to health and well-being

The Obici Healthcare Foundation is dedicated to enhancing the health status of people in their service area, focusing on the needs of the indigent and uninsured. They prioritize illness prevention and disease control through collaboration, partnerships, and funding initiatives.

As part of their vision for health and wellness for all, the Foundation invests in:

  • Improving outcomes related to maternal and child health
  • Promoting healthy behaviors to decrease the risk of chronic disease
  • Improving early childhood education

Their commitment to this mission drives them to empower and uplift nonprofit organizations and their capacity building work, leading them to partner with Catchafire.

Partnership with Catchafire

Obici's collaboration with Catchafire marks a significant step in their mission. This partnership aims to connect Obici's nonprofit partners with skilled volunteers, enhancing their operational efficiency and effectiveness. Catchafire's extensive network of volunteers and nonprofit support programming offers expertise in areas like marketing, operations, and strategy, crucial for the nonprofits’ long-term growth and impact.

Nonprofits need support they can count on. They need support that is flexible and they need tangible assistance to help them tackle their to-dos that often get put on the shelf...Catchafire is something that all funders should invest in.

Advancing community impact and health outcomes

Over four years, volunteers on Catchafire have created over $490,000 in nonprofit impact, dedicating 2,400 hours to support 40 health nonprofits long-term. Their expertise has spanned key needs such as website development, translation, strategy, and graphic design. Key beneficiaries include children and youth, low-income communities, women and girls, and those affected by chronic hunger or mental illness. This means nonprofits can focus on delivering programming and meeting the needs of the community, while critical business elements like marketing, operations, and board governance are supported by pro bono consultants.

Nonprofits benefiting from Catchafire’s capacity building resources are primarily those with small budgets and a small number of staff. With these resources, small, grassroots organizations are given the tools they need to focus on their health programming.

Part of our mission is to ensure we offer information about our services to diverse children and their families. Through Catchafire, we are able to provide our Spanish-speaking community with our enrollment application and necessary forms in Spanish, which increases their understanding and ability to apply. This also allows us to quickly process their enrollment.

Spotlight on success: Nursing Careers & Pathways, Inc. (Nursing CAP)

Transforming healthcare, one volunteer at a time

Nursing CAP is at the forefront of healthcare workforce transformation, focusing on minority, first-generation college, and disadvantaged students. Through tutoring, mentoring, and career development, they prepare students for careers in nursing and healthcare.

The Catchafire platform has supercharged Nursing CAP’s collaborative work and connected them with passionate volunteers who uplift the organization’s efforts to diversify the healthcare workforce. With each volunteer engagement, Nursing CAP takes another step towards fulfilling their mission and making a significant impact on the community. Nursing CAP has benefitted from 25 projects in areas such as graphic design, merchandising, finance, and copywriting through the Catchafire platform. The hours donated helps the organization redirect their focus and impact towards their programmatic healthcare work.

The expertise that we gained was not just for a one-time project. Each volunteer left Nursing CAP with a template or product that we will use for years to come. The financial gain is unmeasurable for each project at the present time considering that the advantages of each and every project reaches far into the future of Nursing CAP, and the students whose lives are changed and affected by their experience in the Nursing CAP, Inc. program.
