$1M in pro bono support to Northeastern Pennsylvania nonprofits

Capacity building has long been central to how Moses Taylor Foundation works. Alongside traditional grants, the Foundation invests in nonprofit leadership, technology, operations, and other internal supports — helping organizations across Northeastern Pennsylvania connect with the tools and expertise needed to better serve the community.

As nonprofits navigate federal funding cuts, that investment is proving its value. Moses Taylor Foundation's ongoing partnership with Catchafire has now surpassed $1 million in donated professional expertise, delivered to health and human services nonprofits across the region since 2022.

Giving nonprofits access to expertise

Through the Catchafire platform, local nonprofits access fully funded, high-level professional skills — revenue strategy, leadership coaching, graphic design, data systems, strategic planning, and more — at no cost to them. These are services most small organizations simply couldn't afford on their own.

“Capacity building is our strategy in practice. This investment allows our partners to focus their limited resources on serving the community while receiving the professional back-office infrastructure they need to realize their missions. "

Turning capacity building into lasting community impact

Since the Foundation started working with Catchafire in September 2022, 65 local nonprofits have benefited from more than 4,771 hours of donated support via the site, saving the community an estimated $1,001,678 in costs.

Nonprofits are facing new and unexpected challenges, and they're responding with creativity — diversifying funding streams, rethinking operations, and making hard choices. Consistent access to skilled professionals gives nonprofits the human capacity to act on theseir solutions.

The renewal of the partnership between Catchafire and Moses Taylor Foundation into a fourth year signals something important: this is no longer a pilot program. For the nonprofits it serves, the capacity building platform has become core infrastructure — a dependable resource they can count on year after year.
