Boehringer Ingelheim is a research-driven biopharmaceutical company committed to transforming the lives of people and animals. Through employee volunteerism, Boehringer Ingelheim supports many initiatives that give back to the communities where they live and work as part of their corporate social responsibility program.
Earlier in the year, we worked with Boehringer Ingelheim to organize three Rapid Fire events in one day for 167 employees during their annual company-wide summit. A Rapid Fire is an in-person three hour volunteering session where teams of employees meet with nonprofits on our platform to solve real-life challenges.
Throughout the day, employees worked alongside nonprofit leaders to brainstorm actionable solutions to a variety of nonprofit challenges, providing expert advice on topics ranging from marketing to measuring impact to organizational strategy.
Within hours, 168 employees broke out into groups and helped 16 nonprofits, creating over $240,000 in value for nonprofits and volunteering a collective 550 hours in just one day. Not only did Boehringer Ingelheim volunteers provide transformational solutions that day, many committed to stay in touch beyond the event. One team even formed an advisory committee on the spot and have since been meeting monthly.
With Catchafire's partnership, Boehringer Ingelheim employees amplify their impact through skills-based volunteerism. By donating their time and skills, they help nonprofits fill unmet community needs. Participating in a Rapid Fire makes volunteering more meaningful while improving employee engagement and retention, but they're just one aspect of our partnership.
Catchafire also provides a skills-based volunteering platform year-round to all Boehringer Ingelheim employees, called Skills2Give, creating an innovative and convenient way for employees to give back. Skills2Give enables employees to volunteer with nonprofits focused on issues core to Boehringer Ingelheim's corporate responsibility initiative, such as environment, health and nutrition, and education, while matching volunteer activities with their skills and causes they care about.
In just six short months of the partnership, Boehringer Ingelheim's nonprofit partners have received over $100,000 in value. Furthermore, Boehringer Ingelheim exceeded their goal of engaging 500+ company volunteers for the first year of the program within the first two months of launch!
Offering employees an easy way to connect with nonprofits that are providing critical services to communities is an integral part of Boehringer Ingelheim’s commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of people and animals, both around the world and in local communities where their employees live and work.
Volunteering has an array of benefits for employees:
With such a successful launch year, we are eager to see this program grow as more Boehringer Ingelheim volunteers discover the value in volunteering their professional expertise to build nonprofit capacity, and to foster even deeper connections between Boehringer Ingelheim's nonprofit partners, talented employees, and CSR goals.
